Setting up 2FA Centralization - Google Accounts

The following are instructions on how to set up 2 Factor Authentication in Unify for your team's google accounts. Instructions are provided for setting the email forwarding up through Gmail. Users will need access to the authentication device or application used for the Google accounts to be forwarded.

Unify OTP Setup

Navigating to the OTP Feed

  • Click on your image on the top right in the Unify Dashboard

  • In the drop down menu, select Settings

  • Select the “OTP Feed" option in the menu on the left hand side of the screen

Note: If OTP feed is not visible, contact Unify support via the chat bubble in the lower right of your screen.

Enabling OTP Feed

  • Under the “Add a New Connection” heading, select the “Email Forwarding” option

  • Enter the email address to forward OTP feed to Unify

  • Click “Next”

  • Copy the email address in Step 2 of the OTP Feed set up

Note: Keep this tab open while completing the rest of the set up. It will be used later

Setting Up Forwarding in Google Account

  • Log into the Gmail account that 2FA codes are currently sent to and will be connected to Unify

  • Access Google account settings by clicking the gear icon in the upper right hand side.

  • Select "See All Settings" from the menu that appears

  • There is a menu bar at the top of the page that appears. Click on the text that says “Forwarding and POP/IMAP”

  • Click the “Add a forwarding address” button

  • Paste the forwarding email address received from Unify earlier in this process into the “Add a forwarding address” field as shown below and click "Next".

  • Using the authentication device or application, please verify the account according to the instructions Google provides on the screen

  • Click “Proceed” to complete adding the forwarding address

  • Click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page to save your changes

  • Navigate back to the inbox

  • A new email should be present Accept the long link in the email confirmation that is sent from Google

  • Refresh the page

Creating Filters

  • Once the forwarding address is added, copy and paste the following information entirely into the search bar:


subject:(passcode) OR subject:(code) OR subject:(access) OR subject:(verification) OR subject:(authentication) OR from:[email protected] OR subject:(security)

  • Click the three lines next to the search bar to open the options for creating the filter

  • Click the "Create a Filter" button at the bottom of the menu

  • Click to check the box next to “Forward it to”

  • Select the email address to forward to in the dropdown next to the “Forward it to” text (this is the same email address that was copied and pasted from Unify)

  • Save these settings by clicking the "Create a Filter" button at the bottom of the menu

  • Click “Continue” to verify these changes

  • Using the authentication device or application, please verify the account according to the instructions Google provides on the screen


Important Note

  • All OTP connections are company-wide

  • Be cautious about adding OTP connections as they will be accessible to everyone in the organization

  • Future updates may allow segregation of OTP feeds based on groups
